A cloud gaming service that asked players to buy games for a platform Google could switch off. Launched in 2019, Stadia made it to 2022 before Google admitted it had not gained the expected traction and announced that access would end on January 18, 2023. Hardware and game purchases were refunded. The console of the future turned out to be an expiration date with a controller.
