Samsung launched the Galaxy Note7 as an $850–$890 flagship in 2016. In September, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about one million phones after 92 reports of overheating, including 26 burns and 55 cases of property damage. Samsung offered replacement Note7s with different batteries. In October, replacement phones were included in an expanded recall covering about 1.9 million devices. The stylus survived. The product line did not.
Samsung produced the rare phone whose safest feature was airplane mode enforced by the airline.
